There’s a guy at work whom I’ve been flirting with for a while now. However, last week the flirting intensified and I asked him to lunch.
Although things didn’t progress any further we both seemed to have a good time.
Here’s the problem…
I feel like this guy is playing games with me. He is somewhat cold and distant most of the day and then by the end of the day he makes some comments to give me an indication that he’s interested again. Like saying how good I look or how beautiful I am, etc.
Since that lunch though, he’s made no further effort to ask me out, get my phone number or anything. So is he really interested or just playing games?

Hi Frustrated in Florida,
You tell me that you asked him out? And now he’s distant?
There are two possible reasons that I can think of (although there may be hundreds, really):
1. He’s scared of you. Seriously, you’ve shown yourself independent, straightforward and not to be messed with. He’s tried to flirt and pretend to be a ‘player’ and your asking him out has shut him down. Good riddance to him.
2. He’s a momma’s boy and is waiting for you to make the next move again. If that is the case, involvement will get really complicated. He could turn on you, abuse-wise.
I’d give him a wide berth and let him grow up.
It’s good that you’ve learned these things early in going out with him rather than later.
